to release the lists of Singapore players for the two events except the selection of player for young category is still in process.

国家队 is to be selected from Singapore Open 2008 as indicated in the rules, we should not make any change now and also there is no way to prove that the change is better.

We can change the rules before the games started but not at this 11th hour ..... especially this year, playing host should have higher priority than getting better results, my personal view.

Below is one draft post that highlights a few sentences sent on 27 Aug above but was not sent out yesterday.

Singapore last played host in 1988 ....

the ranking of Singapore since 1988 as below :

1988 -- 8
1990 -- 7
1992 -- 8
1994 -- 9
1996 -- 7
1998 -- 8
2000 -- 8
2002 -- 5 (jointly with Thailand)
2004 -- 12
2006 -- 7

Since we are playing host this time in 2008, may be 8 is a good number for us. :)

we should not create noises at this 11th hour ........
recently quite a few posts on 国家队, although I mentioned 8 + 1 previously etc but 100 % I support the 国家队 selected from the 2008 Singapore Open with the rules indicated early. 8 + 1 system or other suggestions should only be looked into for future years, we should not create noises at this 11th hour ..... SIXGA may wish to include the article from 23 years ago, in 50th Anniversary Publication (published on 30 Mar 1985) when having a review of these matters after the two 国际赛 : 首届世界智力运动会 (北京) (10月3 - 18日) and 第15届亚洲象棋锦标赛(新加坡)(10月20-26日). From the ranking results of the past years, personally I feel that we should not set too high the target for our team .....

To use the selection of 2008亚洲赛国家少年代表 as an example ......

due to 2008 U18 冠军 and 2008 Group B 冠军 both are not free (and some other leading players not free too, I heard), the selection of 2008亚洲赛国家少年代表 is from two young players (from the class of young players), they are having 4 games at the moment for this selection. In fact, the next rule should be decided by now if they are having a draw on 12 Sep 2008 for the 4th game, they have equal scores so far for the first 3 games.

This is a good example to explain the selection of players for 2008亚洲赛国家代表 too.

Selection rules should be released before the games started.

One simple rule for 2009 and after ...... e.g. the Top 8 of 全国赛 are qualified for the selection processes, but the processes need to be decided early.

personally, I feel that 团体联赛 (1995 to 2004) was a good team event for building the 团队精神.

Now with the one-day two-round type of team events, people pay less attention to the building of 团队精神. One possible reason could be some team leaders are trying to get enough players for the teams regardless the players are from other teams.

In recent years of such team events, the names of some players appeared in more than one team.

棋会的联系 and 棋手的归属感 were two of the many issues brought up previously in one of the discussion meetings attended by SIXGA and all clubs.

For a better development of Singapore Xiangqi, the summary below could serve as one of the inputs :

during the first SIXGA meeting with all xiangqi clubs but not accepted by a number of teams due to various reasons. This matter did not discuss in the 2nd meeting held in July 2007. 棋一生 may wish to bring up again in the 3rd meeting to be held ???

Two of the many concerns/reasons are budget and duration.

Information prepared previously in early 2007 as below (Page 24 of Bishan 5th Anniversary Special Edition) : 由团体联赛与狮城杯（A组）看来，任何比赛都必须有这八支历史背景的队伍参加，包括义顺南，哥南亚逸，文礼，北斗，波那维斯达，加基武吉，飞鹰与淡滨尼东。另三支队伍甘榜格南，白沙东与碧山的表现则不大理想。今年初，在飞鹰加盟白沙东后，有可能的话，一般的团体赛应尽可能包括上述十支队伍。 Club Leaders please let me know if you could provide additional data of your clubs so that more information could be compiled for the purpose.

Even if the answer is yes, may be we should just look at the latest 3 years team competitions, e.g. say

雅柏广场象棋团体赛 -- (2003 to 2005), 2006, 2007, 2008, ...

due to movements of players.

The past records of 团体联赛 (1995 to 2004) and 狮城杯 (2004 & 2005) may not have any useful information for the purpose of "Players by Clubs".
