There are some good points there...[1] 11 Round Swiss System looks better at sorting out the skills of the players. Probably look bad only when you have a 1-horse race.
[2] The knock-out rounds seems have a element of luck. Yet, there is no total reshuffle to make it completely based on luck. Instead it is 1vs8 2vs7 ... However, K.O looks more simple and exciting for spectator and to organisers.
BTW, why was the 11 round system replaced by current 7 + 3?

good question
You put up a good question but no one from Sixga willing to give an answer so far.
I certainly do not agree with breaking of rules for any reasons.Rules maintain the integrity of a competition, analogous to how law ensures the security of a country. Moreover, this is a National competition and amending the rules midway through the competition will set a precedent case for future disputes. The proper procedure would be to write in to SIXGA about your concern about amending the rules (such as allowing replacement of players in the case of withdrawal) and implement it in future competitions.
write in.. haha.. just like the movie..then u wait two days for result right +_+
I do not understand why Sixga insisted to introduce the knock out system for Div. A and B after inplemented for 3 years. In fact , if we want to say " Fair" to both players there should be in 2 slow games and not one slow game instead for every knock-out round.
I have called SIXGA on this matter ......
I have called SIXGA on 八强三轮简易双败淘汰制, even if SIXGA agrees to implement, all 7 players need to agree before the Round 8 starts tomorrow evening.
In fact, all positions no change except Positions 4th and 5th for
八强三轮简易双败淘汰制
and
八强三轮淘汰制.
I agreed to system. Players shd be promoted through games played which he must..
...exhibit of strength, dexerity, skills and etc. A promotion due to walkover may not be fair to other players (not within the top 8) but also to the player who gets B grade through walk over.
SIGXA can consider the good pointers suggested by Bishan.
I agreed with Hua Ying too. By all means, top seed confirmed graded this year.
as he is top 8 and based on new ruling, consec 2 years confirmed promotion.
Let all player to have a fair chance to get a real player to pair up. Otherwise, it
is only natural to allow no. 9 to compete in the qtr finals.

In this case.....
then Durians Brothers got to wait to pick each other's durian
at quarter final......(3 vs 8).....
[2] Those who are able to take pictures, please help snapshot the players as a group, in-game, individual shots, critical moments (without distracting the players please) and wide shot of the spectators and players.
[3] After each event, please scan the Game Record Sheet (GRS) and together with the pictures and any inputs/comments, please email me.
Anyone who can help me...to record the game moves over these 3 days, I have provided some tools to assist you.
[1] Recording of moves
[1a] Blank Record Sheet, download from below.

---It is important to have the move made and timing taken for each turn to be correct as a minimum so as to have a more accurate feel of the match
[1b] Sample Record Sheet, download from below.

This will give those who have not seen how our internal record sheet works have quick feel on how to use it.
The sample sheet moves should correspond to this diagram

In the past it was top 12, my guess for that is to up the difficulty level and to encourage more players to take part. For Chess master you either get top 3 in the Singapore Open 3 times (does not have to be consecutive) or one time Singpore champion.
卷心菜was kind enough to state that he would not take part. If this is the case, it would be unfair to Hu Wei Liang at the expense of Liao Ming Hao. Though Hu Wei Liang and I don't know each other well, I do not have any good reason to speak up for him. I'm just stating a fact. The top of the table might not necessary be the best for the 7 rounds so Ming hao does not have the right to get a direct promotion given that he has already been promoted to a B division player. One example, was in 2007 (7+2) system when Zheng Xiang Fu lead throughout in the first 7 rounds of the competition. After 9 rounds he attained 4th place.
I think it is only fair to let Hu Wei Liang to have the walkover, not mainly because he deserved it but because he was 卷心菜 opponent. It's wrong to let anyone benefit from other people's expense.
Any ideas to improve the skill level of Grade B players instead ? ...I noticed as the years pass by, more and more of these players seems to have difficulty joining the tournament. Having more players moved to Grade B will temporary stop this trend. However, if the gap of the newly promoted and current Grade B is too great, it will be a bad situation for all involved. So any ideas to push up these players's skill level probably would be more useful.

What exactly are the key factors ...
separate Group A & B players currently? Why are Group A players generally stronger than Group B players? Is it the memorising of book moves?
