Usually, in any competition, we do not move the pole when the people are running..... one example is 2006 Singapore Open, two vacant positions were not filled up by moving up Positions 21 and 22. (for that year, up to first 20 could be promoted.)

Hence, their decision is final and has to be respected based on their own set of reasons.
Even though there are some differing views of how to proceed with the Quaterfinals Round 8, these should be left to be reviewed should the organiser decide to proceed with current arrangement. By doing so, we don't miss out on the most important people in this tournament, the TOP8 players to give them encouragement and for us not to lose focus on what is important for CHIchess future in Singapore.

It is not only 胡伟良 if 庄才钧 is removed and put in 陈�...)If this is a replacement issue, then the pairing is not affected...The 9th player is not part of the TOP8 but is to REPLACE the walkover player. This player can only be promoted only if s/he hold TOP3 ranking, 4th-8th not counted except prize money. This is not an easy task for this player. If we change the pairing then it goes against the TOP8 qualifying rules.

THE RIGHT THING TO DO ...)Amendments to the rule needed in this special case.....In view of the walkover, I do feel that it is unfair for a player to get 乙级 this way.
What I recommend is this, in order for a player to get promoted to 乙级, the player must achieve 1 win (excluding those achieved by walkover) in the knockout round.
Example, Player A gets into the semi final through walkover. Player A will not get 乙级 but still have to win in the semi final.
I hope SIXGA will seriously consider this recommendation as I feel last minute pull out is inevitable in a competition which last for weeks. [piggy888 (12-17 10:40, Long long ago)]

This is like an indirect penalty which is unfair to him. At this stage is a knockout not a round robin system.
Mr Hoang Dinh Hong of Viet Nam once taught me that in CHIchess look for the simplest, direct way to win. Based on the same logic, it probably is a better idea to keep the rules simple yet able to handle contingencies without unnecessary penalizing outside the player's control.
