zeiss made 50mm/0.7 for 35 mm cameras beforethis is the only general purpose photography lens that i know with F number at 0.7 there are lenses with apertures even larger than F/0.7, they are built for special purposes though the theoritical limit for lens designed for use in air is around f/0.7
