By the way, 宗乡会馆联合总会杯学生个人赛 is to be held on 22 & 23 Nov 2008 too, so likely 白沙东象棋团体赛 is having adult players only ....

as both events may need the same pool of chess clocks, manpower, players etc.

There are 5 rounds for Phase 1 and 3 Rounds for Phase 2, total of 8 Rounds. Both players could arrange with organiser to play the scheduled game during 碧山象棋会 opening hours, i.e. 10:30 am to 2 pm on Saturdays (15, 22 & 29 Nov and 6 Dec), if anyone is not free for any of the scheduled 8 rounds and the other player is able to accept the change. Phase 3 (擂台赛) will be scheduled after the end of Phase 2. Last year, we recruited 6 new members for the internal competition, we will have the same arrangement for this year. As usual, 12 participants are needed before we proceed with the detailed planning. Registration is to be done at 碧山象棋会 during opening hours, i.e. 10:30 am to 2 pm on Saturday starting 20 Sep 2008.

grouped under A, B, C (with reference to their past records) ....... each group will have 4 to 6 players, round robin system is used for this phase.

For Phase 2, the bottom half of the higher group will play with the top half of the lower group, i.e. round robin system is used for this phase but Phase 1 results are carried forward to this phase.

Phase 3 (擂台赛) will be scheduled for those so call "unexpected" player(s) if any.

We will have 第5届碧山象棋会会员个人赛 Phases 1 & 2 on 8, 9, 15 & 16 Nov, 29 Nov is reserved for Phase 3 (擂台赛).

To-date we have 12 members registered for Bishan Internal Competition 2008. So, the competition is on and the closing date for registration is 1 Nov 2008 12 Noon followed by the balloting of player number at 1 PM. Hope we can have at least 16 or 20 members for this coming event.

We had 12, 16, 24 and 20 players for 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2007 respectively.

The dates for Phases 1 & 2 of the competition are Nov 8,9,15 and 16. Two rounds per day and timings to be confirmed again after considering all the inputs.

Players can attend the balloting of player number in person, otherwise the working committee or other players will help in the balloting.

Regarding the Recruitment of New Members, to-date we have 20 members registered or converted to the new 5-year membership system, while we are converting the existing 3-year membership over the next one year, we hope to have total of at least 52 members when we celebrate 10th Anniversary in Jun 2012, 52 was the active member we had when we celebrated 5th Anniversary.
We plan to hold at least one Recruitment Exercise within the next 3 years and 9 months before our 10 years old birthday.

As indicated in a separate post below, this is one of the reasons for us to plan for another 棋力分级(第三次评定) in Jun 2009 during 碧山象棋会七周年会庆 instead of 碧山象棋会10周年会庆 in Jun 2012.

This is also good for existing graded players to look for improvement, suggestions for Bishan players are, to join competitions at least once over a 3-year period, to join competitions at least 3 times over a 5-year period, more types of internal competitions, etc etc
