Reply From Agony UncleDuring western meal, the plate for the bread is placed on the left side of the diner. To eat the bread do not attempt to cut up the bread with knife and fork. Use your hands to break or tear the bread. Then use the butter knife to spread butter over the bread. If one is consuming bread with olive oil, it is alright to hold the bread and dip it in the oil or use a dispenser to spread the olive oil on the bread. Also it is alright to accept and additional roll when offered. You are not limited to one, you know.
