Inquiry about stamp fee for renting a flatDear Agony Uncle,
Thank you so much for helping us out for our question. It is really good to know that there is a helping hand we can turn to when we encounter with situations we are not familiar with.
I have something to ask about stamp fee. Recently we re-contract with our landlord for the whole flat for 1 yr. Rental is SGD$2100 per month. And she was asking us to pay another SGD$200 plus for stamp fee. Do we need to pay for that and how to calculate the amt?
Thanks for you time.
Best Regards,
Amanda
you can go to IRAS and check on the Stamp duty matter.
The stamp duty is a common practice for a tenancy agreement in Singapore. Usually the tenants pay for it. There is a calculation formula on the IRAS website. The amount depends on the rental and the duration of the contract. But it seems you only need pay around 100 dollars.

It would be better to have a deed with your landlord. A sample (standard) tenancy agreement can be downloaded from HDB website.
