Dear Colleagues
It is with sadness that I inform you of the passing away of Roland Yeo, our colleague from Computer Centre, at about 2:50pm this afternoon at the National University Hospital.
We understand that Roland was doing his regular lunch-time swim at the SRC swimming pool. After swimming a few laps, he suddenly experienced difficulties in the water. A colleague who was swimming with him noticed this and immediately sounded a call for help. One of the lifeguards together with this colleague pulled Roland out of the water and started applying Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on him. The doctor from the University Health and Wellness Centre was also alerted and he arrived shortly to administer medical aid to him before the arrival of the ambulance and paramedics. Roland was conveyed to National University Hospital where he later passed away.
On behalf of all, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Roland’s family.
Director Computer Centre, some of his key staff and a couple of colleagues from OHR and Counselling Centre are rendering support and assistance to Mrs Yeo and the family.
Should you be approached by the media, you might want to refer them to our Media Relations colleague (Ms Leila Thayalan at Tel: 65168163) from the Office of Corporate Relations.
Sincerely
Daniel Cho
Vice President (Human Resoures)
