The Set-up of Xiangqi in Bishan Area..... Bishan Xiangqi Club

Bishan Xiangqi Club is formed on 27 Jun 2002 under Bishan CCMC.

Bishan East is the administrative name of the division, the C.C. servicing the area is Bishan Community Club, the management body is Bishan CCMC (Bishan C.C. Management Committee), Bishan Xiangqi Club is under Bishan CCMC.

The residents of Bishan East division is also served by 6 Residents Committees(RC) , each RC servicing the residents stay in about 15 to 20 HDB blocks. In the past few years, the RC having more residents playing xiangqi is Bishan East RC Zone 5 located at Block 145. All RCs service only residents stay in the blocks within the RC boundary, e.g. RC Zone 5 boundary is Blocks 135 to 152.

The officials from Bishan Xiangqi Club may work with the various RCs within Bishan East in future so that more teams could be formed for 全国选区象棋团体赛. The only team formed for Chinese Cultural Festival 2008 3rd Bishan Cup and 全国选区象棋团体赛 was arranged by Bishan Xiangqi Club for the Bishan East residents and paid by Bishan C.C.

In the next EXCO meeting of Bishan Xiangqi Club in early May 2008, the existing officials below will discuss and suggest improvements if any to the next EXCO to be formed by 1 July 2008 so that the xiangqi club can service the members and residents better in the long run.

As an usual pracitce, the recruitment of new members and new EXCO members is an on-going process for Bishan Xiangqi Club.

Other than the four yearly routine activities below :

1 CNY Gathering
2 Club Anniversary Celebration
3 Technical Talk
4 Internal Competition

We have the following few major activities in the coming 5 years tentatively :

2008 Singapore 10-year Xiangqi Records.
2009 Club Open House and 擂台赛.
2010 Chinese Cultural Festival 2010 4th Bishan Cup and 全国选区象棋团体赛.
2011 Visit to West Malaysia.
2012 Chinese Cultural Festival 2012 5th Bishan Cup and 全国选区象棋团体赛.

碧山民众俱乐部管委会副主席兼碧山象棋会会务顾问郑炳树先生BBM与象棋总会会长林关浩先生以立体象棋联合挂帅 。。。。

in 2006 and 2008 Bishan Cups, we picked those dates with checking and guessing on a few factors :

1 after Chinese New Year
2 before school March holidays so as to avoid Char Yong Cup period
3 within Chinese Cultural Festival period

After checking and guessing, the window of dates in 2010 is very small, we may reserve 6 & 7 Mar 2010 for 4th Bishan Cup depending on future development.

In 2008 Bishan Cup, we tried to calculate an indicative cost per player.

Pending the final figures, regardless 100 players (using hall) or 57 players (using classrooms), the cost was about $100 per player.

Could this factor to be included when we plan the competitions in future ?

As mentioned previously, we are thinking to revert our Bishan 快讯 back to 只报导一、两项活动的布告栏方式........

(C) 2008 8月 31 日 至 9月14日 Lantern Xiangqi related.

in 碧山民众俱乐部象棋会五周年会庆特辑, we have included a summary financial report (Page 36) for the first 5 years till 15 Jun 2007.

the 6-year breakdown todate by EXCO as below :

1st Term EXCO (Year 1 & Year 2) -- $ 8,264.55

2nd Term EXCO (Year 3 & Year 4) -- $12,387.50

3rd Term EXCO (Year 5 & Year 6) -- $11,244.65 (prelim figure todate)

with the change of yearly 碧山杯小学象棋团体赛 (2003 to 2006) 转向 碧山杯个人赛(2002 碧山东,2004 新加坡中区 and 2006 全国个人赛, once in two years during 华族文化节), we should spend less in future unless we want to plan for 团体赛.

This matter will to be discussed and decided by the 4th Term EXCO......

is this a yearly event ?

I will use the following two lists to form the initial list (may remove some with valid reasons, e.g. 中正, 武吉班让 and 阿裕尼 formed teams just for 第一届狮城杯 etc, may exclude 南大 and 国大 too as there are too many teams under Education) and to take in the additions with the new inputs subject to verifications.
