Hi Uncle Chung,
Need your help and guidance on how to deal with my condo management for house quality issue.
I am a foreigner working in Sg. I bought a condo flat. After moved in last year, I found out that the exterior wall of my flat has some problems which cause rain water leaks through the wall into my flat. As consequence, the furnitures and interior wall are damaged by the water. Importantly, some sockets and wires on the floor would be a big theat to human safety if water cames in to them. The issue was reported to condo management office several times as they should take responsibility for exterior facilities. But they didn't take immediate action to repair the wall. I talked with condo manager again recently about the action plan to repair the wall and compensate the loss caused already, but his attitude is unclear.
As foreigner, I never expereinced such issue before. Therefore seek your guidance:
1) What should i do to push the condo management to thoroughly fix the exterior wall issue? from legal viewpoint, what's condo management's liability and responsibility?
2) As my funitures and interior wall decoration were damaged already, I would give a reasonable quotatoin to condo management for compensation. What if they don't agree to compensate anything or they can only cover a small part?
3) I face the potential safety issue if rain water comes again and touch the sockets in my flat. Since it happens couple of times, whenever it rains, I feel worried about the water leakage issue and would ask for compensation for mental/spiritual damage. is it reasonabel and supportable from legal viewpoint?
Look forward to your reply. Thanks.
