Hellow from JQHi, Huasing friends.

I am Jing Qiang from NUS. Just like to check with you guys whether if you all mind me posting threads in English? Cause I am not so good in typing Chinese Character here.

By the way, now Anthony and I as well as some friends at NUS trying to promote chess activities at NUS including Weiqi, Reversi, I-chess and of course C-Chess. If students studying at NUS are interested can contact me at tisminus@hotmail.com . Here, I wish all the best with Huasing.org and everything :)

µ±ÄêµÄIVP£¬NUSÖƶ¨ÁËÏêϸµÄVarsity Selection Details £¨2002Ä꣩Varsity Selection Details

Dear all,

Please read carefully and take note of every single agenda detailed.

1. General

1.1 A player qualifies for consideration for selection, rather than
automatic selection.

1.2 The selection committee retains the right not to send/select any
player to any tournament based on its assessment of the player’s suitability
and disciplinary record, without having to assign any reasons.

1.3 In the event that a selected player does not take up the offer to
represent NUS, then varsity captain can select another player based on
criteria mentioned in 3.2. Such players must have involved actively in the
training prior to selection.

1.4 Selection does not automatically entail full or part sponsorship
of the player's tournament and travel expenses. However, if you are
representing in the name of NUS, you can claim them via Sports and
Recreation Centre.

2. Criteria For Selection

2.1 Only trainees of the current IVP Training squad with at least 60%
attendance over a ten-session training period (or at the point of admission)
will be considered for selection.

2.2 Main basis of selection will be the NUS Open.

2.3 Selection may be based on, but not limited to, the following
criteria:
2.3.1 Performance in selection tournaments
2.3.2 Strength of play
2.3.3 Commitment
2.3.4 Active participation in club activities
2.3.5 Performance in previous tournaments.

2.4 A player who has been inactive in trainings and tournaments or
other events in succession shall not be considered.

3. Selection Committee

3.1 Notwithstanding the above criteria, the Selection Committee will
have the final say as to whom should be selected to represent NUS in IVP and
regional tournaments.

3.2 The Selection Committee will use the following criteria in
deciding the final list of players for the types of tournaments mentioned:

3.2.1 Suitability of player
3.2.2 Discipline
3.2.3 Performance in any previous tournaments
3.2.4 Good Chess Citizenship

3.3 The Selection Committee shall comprise the following : Coach Mr.
Tan, Felix; Varsity Captain/Vice Captain; Yu Bin and Alvin Goh.

4. Training & Other Issues

4.1 IVP training aims to maximize the chances for trainees to achieve
top performance and results for NUS and themselves. Players should always
play with the interest of the team in mind.

4.2 Up to 13 trainees in this Scheme will be selected from the
current training squad.

4.2.1 9 players in 1st Team ?to play in IVP 2002
4.2.2 4 players in 2nd Team ?to join 9 other 1st Team
players to play in any events or regional tournaments.

4.3 All 13 players will be awarded the same ECA points, polo t-shirts
and jackets, etc.

Thank you.

Phew ... IVP 2002 is finally over. And it's great that NUS emerged
victorious after our first class performance win over NTU. Guess everyone
performed well during this competition and this contributed to our
success... Not forgetting the team spirit and friendships formed during this
tournament. Yup and special thanks also goes to our fervent supporters,
chaoxian, kelvin and elson who was present, not only for 1 but for 2-3

hmm .... that's all I have to say. Hope that NUS will continue this winning
