Low-potency steroids are the safest agents for longterm
use, on large surface areas, on the face or areas
of the body with thinner skin, and on children. More
potent agents are beneficial for severe diseases and for
areas of the body where the skin is thicker, such as the
palms and bottoms of the feet. High- and ultra-highpotency
steroids should not be used on the face, groin,
axilla, or under occlusion, except in rare situations and
for short durations.
