arguably, IPO is one core business in finance and most big players actively involved in this area. Goldman, ML, Morgan, UBS all work hard to get china bank deals.
The posts below have explained the IPO quite well. i think u can also find out some related topics (trees) in CFA material, esp P/E ratio part. many companies are priced at PE adjusted by future growth rate.
