Company Description:
We are a leading energy trading house based in Singapore and are looking for an energy trading analyst to join our operations. The company has interests in refining and storage capacities and they are offering the opportunity to a passionate, analytical individual to work closely with trading and assets management, and to learn and grow with the Company.
Responsibilities:
• Analysis of the trading margins of current and potential trading businesses and oil and gas assets
• Collaborate with assets management and trading department to develop models and assemble data
• Monitoring developments in upstream (including production levels and quality changes), and downstream (including expansions, closures, and maintenance).
• Developing spread sheet models and assembling data in order to make recommendations on the trading margins of current and potential trading business and oil and gas assets.
• Developing models in crude evaluation software and refinery netback simulation software to make recommendations on trading ideas.
• Developing and maintaining databases on crude oil production levels and qualities in order to make recommendations on trading ideas and to support supply and demand forecasts by other analysts.
• Developing and maintaining databases on refinery configuration changes, expansions, closures, and scheduled and unscheduled shutdowns in order to make recommendations on trading ideas and to support supply and demand forecasts by other analysts.
• Keeping organized records of data, documents, models, results, and reports in order to facilitate review, information gathering, summary, and other analysis.
• Communicating and summarizing findings and recommendations, and sharing analysis in written or verbal form in order to support trading and assets management decisions.
• Conducting research in order to make on-going improvements to models and analysis.
Requirements:
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Finance/Economics/Business.
• Preferably relevant working experience in the energy or oil trading research or analytics / refining industry
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Good understanding of energy markets, futures and derivatives markets.
• Independent thinks, but also team player
• Work in fast pace and time demanding environment
• Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Applications
• Excellent Microsoft Excel Skills (complex formula, pivot table, macro, VBA)
• Experience with using crude evaluation software and refinery netback simulation software.
• Knowledge of refinery operations, oil trading, and oil trading operations is required to design models and develop and maintain databases.
• Currently based in or willing to relocate to Singapore.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
